The Indian Maritime University (IMU), Visakhapatnam plans to expand its academic programmes by introducing BTech shipbuilding and MTech maritime environment courses in the next academic year. The institute is also developing customised courses for government and private agencies in operations management, insurance, and human resources. IMU aims to be a knowledge centre for the maritime industry and is revamping existing programs to align with industry needs, while expanding ties with Indian and foreign institutions. IMU is recording around 90% placement in core companies such as shipyards, classification societies, ship designers, dredging companies, and consultants.
